Kitty Hawk/Outer banks was one of the most relaxing trips I've ever taken! I couldn’t get enough of local restaurants, cool air, blue water, and the incredible sunrise that is 1,000% worth waking up early for. On previous trips things either seemed rushed, hectic, or busy with things to do that when I get back home I feel like I need to take a vacation after my vacation. Ever happen to you? Well, it didn't happen this trip even with the added schedule of events (my cousins wedding). Something in the air just felt so peaceful and relaxing.
Fun Fact: The Netflix show, Outer Banks, was not actually filmed here. It was filmed in/around Charleston, South Carolina due to North Carolina's Bathroom Bill.

WHERE TO STAY
All photos you see were taken in Kitty Hawk, Outer Banks. Beach front hotels were limited in Kitty Hawk specifically, but there were several beach houses available for rent. Further down the beach of Outer Banks there were more ocean view hotel options.
Hotel We stayed At
We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Outer Banks/Kitty Hawk. The service was great and every room had a balcony! Beach access with options to rent chairs and umbrellas (highly recommend if planning on staying at the beach all day). To rent the chairs it was $15 all day and $20 for the umbrella. Private access to Kitty Hawk pier. Cute pool area and outside bar. I recommend trying their Hippie Juice drink (acholic), it was delicious! If you're not much of a beach fan no worries, they have an inside & outside pool. Also, this hotel does not have free continental breakfast, they do have a restaurant on sight though. There is a Walmart close by if you want to stock up on any drinks/snacks and a Walgreens right across the street.

WHERE TO EAT
Definitely try and make a reservation for anywhere you go in Kitty hawk. One night we had to go to several different places before we could find a place to eat. If they don't offer reservations, definitely get their early to be one of the first ones in line. Most of the restaurants in the area close at 9pm.
TRiO- If you are a brunch person then I 10/10 recommend! The Brioche French Toast was out of this world!! I really enjoyed their Avocado Romesco Toast, as well. I wish we would have ate their at the beginning of our trip because I would have loved to try their lunch or dinner menu as well.
Stack em' High - Here is another great breakfast option! The food reminded me of my grandma's home cooked meals. I got the blueberry pancakes and loved every bite.
Ocean Boulevard Bistro & Martini Bar - You will definitely need a reservation for this place, we got lucky with our spot. Be warned this place is pricey! The food was very good though.
Other restaurants I would have liked to try:
Art's Place - Known for their great burgers!
The Kill Devil Grill - I heard this place has great food and worth the wait. They have an American and Seafood Menu.
I Got Your Crabs - Talk about Seafood heaven, this place has so many great reviews!
Steamers - This Seafood, American & Sandwiches restaurant also had so many great reviews.
THINGS TO DO
Relax on the Beach - We spent so much of our time out on the beach or pier. We made a pit stop at Walmart, loaded up with waters and snacks, and hit the beach. I also woke up early one morning and enjoyed the sunrise (truly and incredible sight). Be warned, at night the beach will be COVERED in crabs! It was a little terrifying to be walking down there so we ended up just walking on the pier instead to enjoy the evening air.
2-hour Outer Banks Wild Horse Tour by 4WD - This is a little farther down the beach, but if you are someone who likes photo opts like I do, this might be right up your alley. See wild horses of Corolla on a 4- wheel drive vehicle along sand dunes and ocean.
Surf Lessons - Want to learn how to surf? This might just be your chance!
Paradise Fun Park - Fun for the whole family with mini golf, bumper cars or Go-Karts.
Avalon Fishing Pier - Open to public. Does cost $15 to park unless you plan to actually fish then it's free. $2 for pedestrians.
Bodie Island Lighthouse - Has great views and makes for a fun photo opportunity. Tickets for climbing to the top cost $10 for adults and $5 for senior citizens/children under 11 years of age.
Digger's Dungeon- My dad was most excited about this particular adventure. On the drive to Kitty Hawk we passed it and knew we would have to stop by it on the way back and we did. It was actually pretty cool! If you or your kids are monster truck fans, specially of Grave Digger, than you must stop for a visit. It was absolutely free to walk about and take pictures with the monster trucks. While you're there you can enjoy a REAL monster truck RIDE ($5), a burger and fries at Digger's Diner and shop at Digger's Dungeon Gift Shop, kid's can drive a kid version monster truck (monster truck go carts), and see a few animals too like goats, roosters and peacocks.
