Dancing My Way Through Life

Dress: Red Dress Boutique / Shoes: Red Dress Boutique / Earrings: Lorenzzi

Dancing has been a passion of mine since grade school. I grew up watching Dirty Dancing, yes probably not the best movie to watch as a kid but hey I turned out fine. Actually I grew up watching any and every dancing movie/show, I did cheer-leading, I danced on a dance drill team, and I still participate in the occasional night out with friends. Shoot, invite me to your wedding and you can guarantee you'll find me out on the dance floor. I've spent so many of my years engulfed in dance because of the way it makes me feel. I never really thought of it as having actual scientific health benefits.

As a matter of fact, dancing is so much more than just being fun it has actual benefits to your health including:

1. Dealing with Depression or Stress: Every time you suppress an emotion you are giving it power to control you physically (stomachaches, headaches, fatigue) and emotionally (feeling stuck, sad, anxious). Take back that power through dance and allow yourself to release those emotions and transform them.

2. Boost your memory: According to a study in The New England Journal of Medicine, aerobic exercise can sometimes reverse volume loss in your hippocamous, and boost your memory.

3. Flexibility and increasing your energy: You probably could have guess dancing obviously helps with flexibility, but seriously it helps so much with easing joint pains and reducing stiffness. Get stretching and get to dancing because trust me your body will thank you later in life.

So what are you waiting for? It's time to grab your flirty dress and go dancing! For the sake of your health, of course;) I found my perfect dancing dress. Have you? My favorite part about wearing this dress is the way it looks as you spin. This flirty dress from Red Dress Boutique comes in 9 different colors, has an elastic neckline with an off the shoulder flounce, an elastic waistline, and tiered skirt, and runs true to size with a relaxed fit. I'm 5'2" wearing a size small.

Much Love, Reba Faye
