Dallas Farmers Market

The Dallas Farmers Market has easily become one of my favorite spots in Dallas. It has everything from restaurants, furniture, flowers, locally grown produce, naturally raised meats, and various arts/crafts vendors. This place is perfect for individuals looking to make a healthier lifestyle change. I'm personally working on making healthier lifestyle choices, but that's not my main reason for loving the farmers market. Some people relieve stress by working out, shopping, running, partying, but for me it's going to places where myself and others can experience joy by social interaction and trying new things. Walking through the market, the shed, and the flowers, I've seen couples, families, kids, and friends laughing, talking, taking photos, and most importantly connecting with each other. This has become a place where I can unwind and refuel for the week. Plus, Fridays-Saturdays you can find free samples at The Shed and who doesn't love free samples! They are pet friendly so bring along your furry friend, but don't forget the leash.

The Market

The market is the food hall containing a mixture of local specialty foods and artisanal food vendors. It has plenty of seating and tables for dinning. One of my favorite food shops is the BellaTrino's Neapolitan Pizzeria. When you order a pizza you will pick the size you want based from the display sizes and then they will make you a fresh pizza. The market also has a couple different cute gift shops:)

Open:

Monday-Sunday: 11 am-7 pm

Friday: 11 am- 8 pm.

The Shed

The Shed is an outdoor pavilion where local farmers bring their produce, meats, cheese, honey...etc. You will also find food vendors that make their own breads/ desserts as well as art/craft vendors selling things such as shirts, jewelry, rugs, lotions, soaps, protein bars, pet accessories, and more:) While at The Shed today, my husband and I purchased a couple of things that I sampled from the weekend before and just had to go back to get. We got SOCO Ginger Beer, Whiskey Sour Blackberry Jelly from MaDear's Jellies, and Garlic Hummus/Avocado Hummus with Pita Chips from Brother's Products. I highly recommend checking out The Shed because you never know what new food or products you will find. From SOCO, we just got their original flavored ginger beer which is yummy, but they had several other good flavors as well. If you like to cook and experiment with new flavors then you definitely need to add the Whiskey Sour Blackberry jelly to your shopping list. The flavor literally melts in your mouth. I have tried hummus in the past and have never really cared for it, until I tried Brother's Products. I'm all about free samples so I figured I'd give it another try and I am so glad that I did. It was the best decision I made that day! I am now hooked on their hummus and pita chips! If you don't like hummus, I encourage you to at least give it a try and if it's still a no for you then that's okay because their pita bread and chips are also to die for!

Parking

Let's talk about the parking. Parking can get a little overwhelming on busy days. No worries though, because there are tons of spots to choose from, but some will cost you while other spots won't. There are available parking spots on streets: Taylor, Marilla, Farmers, and Harwood. There is also a garage: entrance on Harwood Street (walk up the stairs and exit east side across from The Shed). There are metered parking spots on streets: Cadiz, Cesar Chavez, Pearl St. and Public Parking. If those are all taken, there is a farmers market parking lot next to The Shed, but it usually fills up pretty quickly. They also have a new additional parking lot at 1823 Cadiz. If you are like me and street names/wordy directions are confusing, then check out the visual parking map here:)

I hope you visit and love this place as much as I do! Please share your thoughts and visits with me:)

Much Love, Reba Faye
