There's only 3 more days until Christmas! This year we are celebrating Christmas a little differently than normal. To begin, this year we only have Christmas Eve and Christmas off which means we will be working harder to make sure every minute spent with our family counts. Also, we are changing our traditions up this year and that has me feeling excited and a tad anxious. Personally, I am a huge fan of traditions and sticking with them, but there comes a time when things need to be changed due to outside forces.
Typically, on Christmas Eve we will go to church with Nate's family and then Christmas morning open presents at his parents house, then go to my parents house open gifts there, and then head over to my grandmas for lunch and spend time with my dad's side of the family. This year we are still spending Christmas Eve with Nate's family at Church, but then we are returning to my parents house to celebrate our Christmas with them. We will then spend Christmas morning and afternoon at my brother's house because we are wanting to relieve some of the stress of cooking and hosting from my Grandma. This year we are not spending time with Nate's family on Christmas day, but we will be celebrating our Christmas with them a couple of days later at Broken Bow in a cabin.
So why I am so excited for these changes? Well, for starters, I like the idea of not having to split up family time on Christmas. I like the idea of being able to celebrate Christmas all day with one family and then being able to celebrate Christmas all day with the other. Yes, we won't get to see Nate's family on actual Christmas day, but it's not about the day specifically that makes Christmas feel like Christmas in my opinion. It's about getting to see your loved one, celebrating it with them that makes if feel like Christmas. Second, we will be spending Christmas in a cabin and if that doesn't scream Hallmark movie moment then I don't what does. I'm a tad anxious about this year because this is the first years it hit me things are different. As we are all getting older, and our families are growing things are a little different. The biggest thing for me to realize that is life throws curve balls at any moment so it's so important to be able to cherish and enjoy each and every holiday we get with one another.
I was hoping for a white Christmas this year, but Texas has other plans. With the weather being warmer I've been able to wear this summer inspired dress to some of our Holiday adventures and for chillier days I add a leather jacket to keep warm. Who else is ready for Christmas?
Much love, Reba Faye
